पशुपतिनाथ मंदिर में अभिषेक ने मेरी प्रार्थना की समझ को बदल दिया। दूध और गंगा जल से शिवलिंग को नहलाते देखना, अंधकार में पुजारियों के मंत्र गूंजते हुए — इसके लिए रूपांतरण के अलावा कोई शब्द नहीं है।
मैंने अपने पिता को 2018 की बाढ़ में खो दिया। तीन महीने बाद मैं पहली बार पशुपतिनाथ मंदिर आया। उस प्राचीन गर्भगृह में भगवान शिव के समक्ष खड़े होकर, मुझे अंततः लगा कि मेरे पिता सुरक्षित किनारे पर पहुंच गए हैं।
यहां की महाशिवरात्रि मेरी यात्रा की किसी अन्य जगह से अलग है। पूरी रात घंटियां नहीं रुकतीं, मंत्र नहीं रुकते। भोर तक आप थके नहीं होते — आप पहली बार सालों में जागृत महसूस करते हैं।
